Elliot has a blog. He was getting pissed that I was always working on my website when he didn't have one of his own. So, I did what any responsible parent would do, and gave my 6-year-old his own wordpress. Basically, he talks and I type. He takes all the photos himself with my phone, and responds to any and all comments. So please, feel free to leave one or three.

So after much thought and deliberation I have decided to start up a party-planning business - mostly for kids parties. Birthday/theme/holiday/whatever.
:)
So I'm trying to come up with names, and after some brainstorming I thought of this one:
For a Good Time Call Kara
!!
I like it a lot. I think its hilarious. HOWEVER. I don't think that all moms will see the humor.
If you were trying to find someone to plan your kids party and stumbled upon this name in the phone book or google, wouldn't you be terribly amused? Or would you think I'm an awful awful bad person ?
The business card/website/ads for thsi will be totally like.. modern-kid-friendly rather than your typical OMG TACKY kid stuff that I see around here. Meaning, it will obviously be a company intended for kids/familes and not really offensive at all.
Opinions?

There it is. The handcrafted pinata I did (almost) all by myself. I formed the shape with chicken wire and used a bowl for the head and cut up cereal boxes for the legs and paper macheed the whole thing. Then I spray painted it and covered it with crepe paper. Monkey helped me attach a walkie talkie inside the head so that he could talk and make artoo noises when the kids hit him. Even though he got busted to smithereens, it was still really fun to make - and totally worth it. The kids loved it.

He's in kindergarten now, officially. I didn't even cry and neither did he. There are a few kids in his class that were in his preschool class so I'm grateful for that. Hooray!

He's also starting soccer a week after that. I'm pretty excited to see 5 year old soccer games. :D

Elliot's been gone for a month visiting family and his dad and stuff. I just went to pick him up yesterday. It feels good to have him back.
And I've been so social in the past 30 days! Last Thursday was 50s Prom at the Outland. Soo much fun.. all the bands played 50s covers and there was spiked punch. Everyone was all dressed up and we danced and danced and danced.
My sister was here with my nephews for a while too. They stayed with me for some of their visit. So that was nice too.
My brother is leaving for college in a month. !!! Weird weird things. Oh well. :) I'm excited and happy for him.
I recently went back and read every entry in my lj, which I've had since 2002. It's weird - in the beginning I was updating sometimes 2 and 3 times a day. Now it's unusual if I update more than once or twice a month. It was interesting to see how I've changed, and kind of not-so-interesting to relive some things I wrote about a lot.
Oh well. I've done a lot and accomplished so much since then, and that is interesting.
Dull. Dull dull dull. that's what this is.
OH.
My favorite regional band, Gentleman Auction House, has asked me to do a shoot for them. I am more than slightly excited about this. I hope it turns out okay and I'm sure it will - I just need to find some colorful places in Springfield to shoot at. Fun!

As much as I would love love love to play dumb and say that Indy4 was terrific and everything I'd hoped it would be and then some.. I can't. And accepting that makes me so sad.
Even when Elliot says it was awesome you can hear that twinge of i-dont-really-mean-it-edness.
We had high hopes. Too high, I guess.

As a matter of fact, I could probably say it's been the best day all year.
A very good friend of mine took me to Kansas City today to see Wicked the musical. LOVE. It was totally amazing, even if they changed some of the coolest parts of the book.
Love love love love love.
AND. In approximately one year and 25 days, we're going to do it all over again to go see Phantom of the Opera. Seeing that performed live is one of things that's on my list-of-things-to-see-before-i-die thing. Counting down the days. :)
Back to work tomorrow, to Tulsa tomorrow night to drop off Elliot with his dad for four days and then I have the weekend to myself!
I'm a little bummed that I didn't get to be the one to take Elliot to see the new Indiana Jones movie after pumping him up about it for so long, but I have a feeling even if he sees it in OK with his dad, he'll still want to go see it again with me hwen he gets back. Seriously, I have NEVER seen that child more excited about ANYTHING. Even Legos. Anytime the tiniest hint of a shadow of that fedora comes on tv he screams like a fangirl. It's hilarious.
Also, last weekend I went to a kind of photographers workshop with a photographer that I've admired for a long time. I learned a lot, but also got a lot of modeling contacts and some good esteem boosts too. :) Things are looking up with that, and that's a GOOD thing.

For mother's day, i did a photoshoot with a pretty cool guy named Walter. Meaning, he took my picture instead of the other way around. It's pretty much a reminder that I need to put down the fork every once in a while, and that my face is much too round. But the ones of me and Elliot are cute. I think. He made us little punk rockers.

I took Elliot to see Iron Man last night.
Ho-ly cow. Throughout the entire credits (b/c we waited for that mystical last scene) he was doing some weird Iron Man dance and he looked a LOT like Napoleon Dynamite. I'm pretty sure everyone in the theater was laughing at him. But it's okay b/c he loved it.
He has some weird power ranger gloves that are red and gold and he begged and pleaded to wear them to school so I let him. Because they're Iron Man colors. He's going to be talking about this until Indiana Jones comes out in theaters, and then there will be that for a while. He really wants to see Batman, but I think we'll wait on that one because it will probably be pretty scary.
Oh. And we found a new hole-in-the-wall toy store next to the place I get my pictures printed. It was wall to wall floor to ceiling action figures. It was really really neat.. we were there for a loooooong time just checking everything out. Elliot started quizzing the old man that worked there about Star Wars. He failed miserably. Elliot had to keep correcting him. The guy thought it was funny though.
Also, if anybody wants to get me something for mother's day (HA), they had an animated Gizmo toy from Gremlins.. he moves around and sings the song and I need him. Kidding. But it was pretty cute.
(isn't it great how having a kid enables me to be an even bigger dork than i already am??)
